Dear Hon. Kamwi:
The officers and members of the Liberian History, Education and

Greensboro, North Carolina, comprising of Liberians and friends
of Liberia who are committed and dedicated to advocating and
working for the rights of Liberians to quality education, health
and other developmental human services in Liberia.
At
the moment we are planning to host the first post-war National
Health Conference in Liberia on December 14- 19, 2006 in
collaboration with government and non-governmental
organizations, including the Ministries of Health and Social
Welfare, Youth and Sports , Information, Culture Affairs and
Tourism, Bnettv.com of Canada, the US-based Congress for Racial
Equality, United Nations Millennium Project, US-based Kill
Mosquitoes Now, West Coast Aerial Applicators, Inc. Tr-Ac-Net,
friends of Liberia organizations, NC & A & T State University ,
AME University and Cuttington University College in Liberia.
The
objective of the Conference is to bring together the traditional
and nontraditional health and medical practitioners to share
knowledge and review the national malaria control and prevention
strategies/policies and identify the appropriate combination of
technologies that would eventually lead to the reduction of
malaria morbidity and mortality by 80% in the year 2010 in
Liberia.
In
order to bench mark the outcome of this meeting in realistic and
measurable terms, we have decided
to review Strategic Planning documents of other African
countries that have embarked upon a long-term program to combat
malaria in their respective countries.
We,
therefore, will appreciate were you to share with us your
Strategic Planning document used as a roadmap to enable your
country effectively confront the malaria epidemic. Please be
assured that all necessary credits and references will be given
to your work as a professional courtesy as your gesture will
contribute to our nation’s efforts to control and eventually
eradicate the debilitating disease from Liberia.
While we are await a positive response from your office relative
to our request, we also request further that you kindly utilize
your office and national government in articulating the urgent
need for malaria control and possible eradication particularly
in countries devastated by this insidious disease.
Thank you very much for considering our request and we
prayerfully look forward to a positive response from you and
for further discussion on this matter, if the need arises, as
we make great strides to serve humanity with our limited
resources, believing that quality of life issue is fundamental
human right worth advocating for despite our geographical
location.
Sincerely,

Syrulwa Somah, PhD.
